|
1857 Post Office Directory DAVENPORT township is 4½ miles north from Astbury and 4½ north-west from Congleton (its post town). It is in Northwich hundred and Congleton union. Davenport Hall (a brick building) is the seat of Mrs. Tipping. The population, in 1851, was 129, and there are 755 acres of land. Lady Wilmot is lady of the manor and owner of the township.
